We will talk about new advances in estate planning (e.g. electronic wills, electronic signatures) - and take a guided tour through innovative platforms that are shaping the future of Estate Planning.

e-State Planner streamlines the estate planning process for advisors and their clients - automatically producing all required financial and will planning documents. Each document is dynamically generated based on the information provided for each individual client.

Notice Connect is a web application for publishing, accessing, and managing legal information. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in downtown Toronto, NoticeConnect effectively and affordably connects public legal notices with their intended audiences. The platform is trusted by lawyers, trustees, banks, and government. In 2017, the Superior Court confirmed that publishing a notice to creditors on NoticeConnect entitles an estate trustee to the liability protection afforded the Trustee Act. Since then, the company has developed a suite of products for creditors and the Canada Will Registry.

Jordan Atin, Counsel at Hull & Hull LLp in Toronto, co-founded e-State Planner, a software designed to make the estate planning process simple, efficient and client friendly. It decreases admin overhead and cuts down on typographical errors.

Jordan is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. In 2004, he was appointed as one of Ontario’s first certified specialists in Estates and Trusts Law. He is the past chair of the Ontario Bar Association Estates Section and a full member of the Society for Trust & Estate Practitioners.

Mr. Atin was the inaugural recipient of the Hoffstein Prize, recognizing his contribution and achievements in estate law. Jordan is the co-author of The Family War – Winning the Inheritance Battle and appears on TV as an expert on estate matters.

Patrick Hartford is the Founder and CEO of NoticeConnect, a web platform for publishing and accessing legal notices online. He is a lawyer with a background in law, economics, and business, and summered at a Bay Street firm before clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada for Justice Rosalie Abella. Patrick has published peer-reviewed articles on business law and criminal law. His research has been cited by the Supreme Court.

Patrick is an entrepreneur in the legal tech space, where he works to modernize old processes withSaaS solutions. NoticeConnect was acquired by DoProcess in 2020.
