  • June 17, 2021
  • 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM (EDT)
  • Zoom

  • Has not attended our EPCC meetings before

Every day is interesting and challenging for Planned Giving and Estate Administration professionals who receive bequests and gifts  - some planned and some quite unexpected!

A behind the scenes look, describing the work that they do at UBC & running through an example of a gift that Brian and John worked on together. This example would outline the process from beginning to end.

Brian Altwasser, MBA, TEP

Director, Estates and Trusts, UBC Development Office

Brian Altwasser has worked as Director, Estates and Trusts at UBC since 2003. He has administered approximately 600 estate gifts to the University.    Prior to working at UBC, Brian worked at Royal Trust as a Corporate Executor and Personal Tax Officer.   Brian is a graduate of both Carleton University and the University of British Columbia.

John Fleming

Director, Gift & Estate Planning, UBC Development & Alumni Engagement

In his role at UBC John assists donors in matching their philanthropic intentions with the multitude of opportunities on the UBC campuses, including complex gifts, gifts of securities and estate planning, allowing donors to meet their philanthropic goals in the most tax effective way. John has a varied background at UBC having worked in many different areas in Development and Alumni Engagement, and over 20 years experience working with private foundations.
